General Dynamics NASSCO launches first LNG-powered containership 20 April 2015 On Saturday 18 April in San Diego, General Dynamics NASSCO launched the 764-foot (233m), 3100 TEU Isla Bella , the first LNG-powered containership. The containership, part of a two-ship contract, was built for TOTE, a leading logistics and transportation company. When delivered, the ships will be the cleanest of their kind and size. Launch ceremony. Click to enlarge. The main engine is a MAN dual-fuel slow-speed 8L70ME-C8.2-GI , with maximum power output of 25,191 kW (33,782 hp) @ 104.0 rpm. The Marlin-class containerships will be the largest dry cargo ships of any kind in the world powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
