Bentley plant scoops environmental award

Bentley may not be the first name you associate with environmental consideration, but the British brand has become the first car manufacturer to be awarded the triple Carbon Trust Standard for carbon, water and waste reduction at its headquarters in Cheshire. The certification has verified Bentley’s 16% reduction in CO2 relative to the number of cars built since 2011, as well as a 35.7% drop in water use. Major projects carried out at the Crewe factory include the fitment of more than 20,000 solar panels mounted on the plant’s roof. These have helped reduce the company’s carbon generation by over 2,500 tonnes and put in excess of 286,000kWh back into the grid. In all, 20% of the company’s electrical requirements were met by the solar panels.
