The Chevy Volt Is Dead; Long Live The Volt?

The Volt may not be dead, but it is severely disabled. There are too many negatives that GM has no overcome … and frankly, I blame most of the issues on GM. Other than the Volt’s engineering, which is top notch, everything else has been pathetic, from design decisions to marketing to dealer training and knowledge to responding to issues. The Volt should have been 5 passenger, not 4. The battery pack was not designed correctly. It should have been flattened out to make more room. The gas engine generator should have supported E-85, not required Premium fuel (yes, I understand the old fuel problem, but the generator could be turned on more often if required. I walked into a Chevy dealer and knew more about the Volt than the sales rep … that’s bad. It’s also too expensive … which is why it should have been a Cadillac and not a Chevy first.
