Mercedes-Benz B-Class makes huge progress on emissions Green car fans should keep their eyes peeled for the new Mercedes-Benz B 180 BlueEFFICIENCY model – as it manages to produce 16 per cent fewer carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions compared to its predecessor. The reduction is achieved over the vehicle’s entire lifecycle, including production and service over 99,400miles. Its primary energy consumption during its entire lifecycle is cut by 14 per cent – around 2,400litres of petrol. As a result, the vehicle has picked up an environmental certificate in accordance with standard TR14062. According to Professor Dr Herbert Kohler, the chief environmental officer at Daimler AG, it sets benchmarks in the field of both aerodynamics and its drive system.
