As Porsche prepares to launch its 918 Spyder, it has turned up the juice for the Weissach package version, enabling a 0-62 mph time of 2.6 seconds, and a 0-60 run is around a tenth of second quicker still. This superbike-fast speed to 62 is 0.2 seconds quicker than earlier pre-production 918s achieved in testing, and 124 mph (100 kph) arrives in 7.2 seconds, about the time a Camry Hybrid takes to 60. The 0-124 time is 0.5 seconds quicker and there’s also a 0-300 kph (186mph) time – this takes just 19.9 seconds to reach and Porsche shaved 2.1 seconds from previous best time. Porsche does not say how long it takes to get to the car’s top speed, however. This is around 214 mph. In all-electric mode the base 918 Spyder vehicle sprints from 0 to 62 in 6.2 seconds – a reduction of 0.7 seconds – and the Weissach does it in 6.1 seconds.
