ABB's Terra 53 Combined Charging System (CCS) charging VW XL1 ABB's Terra 53 is the industry's first combined charging system (CCS, also known as Combo 2) European rapid DC charging standard compatible with the soon-to-launch Volkswagen e-up! and BMW i3. ABB announced it has successfully rapid charged the first Volkswagen e-up! to enter the UK using a CCS Terra 53 in the presence of a select group of Local Authorities at ABB's Milton Keynes HQ. ABB is the first supplier of CCS DC rapid-charging solutions to charge successfully a CCS compatible car in the UK and also to pass CE Certification testing by an independent notified conformity assessment body.
