Beijing to waive license plate lottery for electric vehicles

But in Beijing, being Beijing, nothing is what it seems! In the PRC, the old slogan applies, everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others! Influential officials and the elite, are not subject to the lottery! The Lottery is really more about reducing congestion, than smog. (Pre-Automobile Beijing was always very dirty at certain times of the year) An EV, is just as congesting as an ICE Vehicle. But, the City officials in Beijing are more progressive than their federal counterparts, and are willing to try anything to remove the criticism which is growing from foreign news sources. It will be interesting to see the actual way this scheme will operate in practise as most of these PRC announcements, work out very differently in practise.
