Why do people buy organic?

Why do people buy organic?

Survey examines why shoppers make the decisions they do, and weighs the pros and cons of organic food. Organic food is often viewed as healthier, more ethical, and tastier than food grown with pesticides. A survey of more than 3,000 shoppers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia assessed why people making the choice to buy organic -- or, in some cases, why they don't. The survey results show that most people buy organic for health reasons in the USA and Australia, whereas few people buy organic to ensure improved conditions for farm workers. Customers in the UK are less likely to buy organic because of the high cost. Concern for environmental safeguarding, taste, and animal welfare fall in the middle.
