Environmental Economics: Friday Beer Post

It's not about the price paid by consumers ... it's about the overhead incurred by craft breweries to produce beer. One might argue that increased competition from craft breweries might drive generic beer prices down, but likely, the larger breweries won't notice a major change directly due to this measure. Miller/Bud etc are generally made with corn and rice, rather than grain, and result in a lighter beer (different/inferior). Craft brewers are repulsed at this idea. In the end, they're not really substitutable brews. One might argue the real issue is changing consumer tastes rather than the price paid by consumer.
