People.com Editor Comes Out as Transexual #p2 #topprog

Janet Mock, editor at People.com and a well known blogger and writer, is featured in Marie Claire this week discussing her transexual identity and the journey she went through to change her body. The article discusses how Janet, born male, felt different at an early age but quickly learned to cover up those differences based on social cues and disapproving looks from her family. However, it wasn't long before Janet started realizing her identity and began to transition, wearing women's clothes to school and identifying as female. Janet tells in the article how, disturbed by the changes puberty was threatening to reek upon her body, she began buying a transexual friend's female hormone tablets but quickly recognized that this was not a viable solution in the long term.
