US solar gets a boost with solar plant that works in the dark, but Spain solar industry receives a blow:

The US Department of Energy has agreed a $737m (£454m) loan guarantee to support a unique solar thermal development in Nevada that boasts the world's tallest molten salt tower. Energy Secretary Steven Chu yesterday announced the funding for SolarReserve's 110MW Crescent Dunes project, which received planning permission in December and will be the first of its kind in the US.
