TODAY! U.S. Postal Workers Collect Food From You to "Stamp Out Hunger":

Tomorrow you can help fight the national hunger crisis by putting non-perishable food items out with your morning mail. The National Association of Letter Carriers will hold its one-day 19th annual "Stamp Out Hunger " food drive tomorrow, Saturday, May 14, 2011, the largest food drive of its kind. Postal workers will gather donated food in their trucks to help replenish dwindling food pantry stores in the communities they serve. From the NALC : Demands for food assistance have reached record levels from what seems to be an almost endless line of victims of the worst recession since the Great Depression. National and local NALC food drive coordinators hope to expand on last year's record of 77.1 million pounds of donations collected along postal routes. Mail carriers are encouraging their 44 million postal customers to place donated non-perishable items in bags beside their...
