How Sending a Letter Can Help Save Wildlife By LESLIE KAUFMAN United States Postal Service Looking for little ways to help endangered species? This week, the United States Postal Service announced a postage-size way to contribute . In September, the service will begin selling fund-raising stamps, known as semipostal stamps, with the image of a tiger to benefit vanishing species like elephants and rhinoceroses. Each stamp costs 55 cents, 11 cents more than a standard first-class postage stamp, but all the net proceeds will go to the Multinational Species Conservation Funds, administered by the Fish and Wildlife Service. The money will be divided among numerous conservation groups including the African Elephant Conservation Fund, Asian Elephant Conservation Fund, Great Ape Conservation Fund, Rhinoceros and Tiger Conservation Fund and Marine Turtle Conservation Fund.
