New results out from @BigLotteryFund today - a landmark well-being evaluation

Five years on, and this approach is bearing fruit. As well as achieving significant improvements in healthy eating and physical activity from the time they began a project to the time they finished, beneficiaries surveyed also saw an increase of life satisfaction from 6.3 to 7.0 on a 10-point scale. Well-being junkies will know that this 0.7 change is a huge increase. For example, a classic paper by Andrew Clark and others in 2008 found that people were less than 0.3 points more satisfied in the year they got married than they were 4 years beforehand. Becoming unemployed is associated with a reduction in life satisfaction by about 0.6. Being able to demonstrate such a large increase in well-being associated with engagement in projects funded by BIG is potentially powerful, particularly in the context where the Government has explicitly stated its intention to increase well...
