Libya Opens Up Waters For Bluefin Tuna Fishing, Threatening Species Recovery Plans : TreeHugger via @TreeHugger

Illegal fishing for bluefin tuna by exceeding quotas, under-reporting quotas, and outright pirate fishing mean Atlantic and Mediterranean bluefin are highly endangered. Now, as NATO forces assist rebel forces in attempting to oust Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has opened up its waters to bluefin fishing. And as WWF and Greenpeace point out in a dual statement, there's no agreed upon regulation plan and no effective monitoring of what may happen there.
