Japan ditches nuclear plans raising hopes for wind industry

Japan's Prime Minister Naoto Kan confirmed yesterday that the government would scrap a plan to obtain half of its electricity from nuclear power in the wake of the crisis at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, and would instead promote the rapid expansion of the country's renewable energy industry.
