Yes Matt I agree 100% "hand stands" or continuous "rearing" is painful and extremely damaging on their musculature and joints; "hand stands" are wholly unnatural to their skeletal frame and very dangerous. I attended a lecture given by Dame. Sheldrick of The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Sanctuary (in Kenya) where this subject was addressed. She is one of the foremost specialist' of elephants in the world. Wild animals, especially elephants who are extremely large, intelligent, highly social, gentle and very sensitive, captivity is entirely unsuitable for their health, both physically and mentally. It is a total deprivation of their needs, it is abuse. Let alone having to endure the aggressive training tech. It seems you are not alone in your understanding. The majority of people on this comment board have voiced the same.
