Losing a Sister

Joie Seldon is a therapist, writer and actor who focuses primarily on emotional awareness. Recently her sister passed away, but there was very little or no regular connection between them when it occurred, as they had not been on speaking terms for some time. What follows is an interview with Joie about the loss of her estranged sister, and how she is dealing with it. Q : It seems with an estranged family member, death is potentially even more upsetting or confusing because there is so little context for it – you only hear about the actual final event - and not what happened leading up to it. Has it been more challenging, or more unsettling because it took place in sort of a vacuum or less because there wasn’t as much connection? A : It has been more unsettling.
