Fish farming is a negative feedback loop for large fish; requiring 3x more food to feed one farmed fish than a one wild fish. The ocean is strip-mined for bait to feed the farmed fish. It’s robbing Peter to pay Paul. Aquaculture is nothing more than a justification for continued destruction of the valuable wetland / estuary / coastal / beach / Delta ecosystems needed for a healthy oceanic environment. Catfish and Tilapia are the only fish that can be “farmed” sustainably because they can eat plant matter. All other fish must eat food with fish oils. Catching the fish isn’t the problem. Providing an enevironment with wetlands, freshwater spawning habitat, reduced plastic pollution, reduced industrial pollution, lower acidity level, and more stable temperatures is the real problem. “Farming” fish is worse for the aquatic environment than industrial scale hog, chicken, cotton...
