Tell your MEP to oppose a #TTIP that leaves us courting climate catastrophe:
I am writing to urge you to commit to opposing any form of The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) that would increase the import of oil and shale gas from the US, and give multinational corporations the power to challenge, obstruct and increase the cost of much-needed climate legislation. The EU is explicitly using TTIP to push the US to overturn its 40-year-old ban on crude oil exports and to loosen restrictions on the export of shale gas. Former Trade Commissioner Karel de Gucht said, "I cannot imagine that there will ever be a TTIP without such (energy) provisions." The necessary infrastructure investment required for the transport of liquefied shale gas across the Atlantic is considerable and decidedly long-term.
