Giant turbines driving down offshore wind costs, study finds

Energy from offshore wind farms is almost 11 per cent cheaper than three years ago, putting the industry well on course to meet government cost-cutting targets. The figures revealed in an industry report yesterday show the lifetime cost of energy from offshore wind has come down from £136 per megawatt hour of electricity produced in 2011 to £121/MWh for projects moving to construction between 2012 and 2014.
