A great success story: beaten circus #elephant will retire to sanctuary: Thank you for taking action via @actionalerts
Anne's story was exposed six years ago in the Mail on Sunday and the RSPCA said then that there was no proof of 'unnecessary suffering' and they said they had done all they could.Ben Bradshaw the then animal health and welfare Minister was going to monitor the situation.SIX YEARS down the line - a lot of people failed Anne not only the owners and the monster but those who could have done something six years ago.I wonder if the RSPCA have a definition that I could understand for 'necessary suffering' as opposed to 'unnecessary suffering'.Graham (my husband from our Sanctuary) drove Anne to Longleat yesterday and she had a good journey and looks comfortable. Long and happy may her retirement be - at last. Thanks to everybody who contributed to this happy outcome. Hopefully this is now the final chapter in animals in circuses.
