Scientists Warn Climate Change May Be Irreversible | Care2 Causes

Both this "irreversible" statement and the "we can help if we do stuff in the next ten years" have been around for a long time. I remember them from about ten years ago, and I read they came out ten years before that. The 2-6 degree prediction is very old too, and has not withstood the test of time. I do believe that climate change is irreversible, but I also think it is unstoppable, and not necessarily even that closely tied to total carbon-emissions, let alone anthropogenic ones. The issue is that the connection depends very heavily upon unknown strong positive feedback (rather than just carbon's direct effect), and that does not empirically seem to exist. The bright side is that I also don't think the climate-change is catastrophic.
