World marches for #climate action today - press release: #climatemarch

Friends of the Earth will join tens of thousands of people from across the world who are expected to march for urgent action on climate change later today (Sunday 21 September 2014). The global demonstrations come ahead of a special climate summit in New York this Tuesday (23 September). World leaders including Barack Obama, David Cameron and François Hollande are expected to be amongst those attending the special gathering convened by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. Friends of the Earth’s Head of Campaigns, Andrew Pendleton said: “Time is running out to avoid catastrophic climate change – international talks are not enough, we need urgent action too. “The developed world, which is chiefly responsible for the crisis we face, must take the lead by cutting its emissions furthest and fastest. “The UK’s environmental credibility has been sinking for years.
