The chances of noisy postmen waking you up each morning could soon fall significantly, if a pioneering new electric vehicle initiative from Austrian Post catches on. The company has revealed ambitious plans to roll out one of the largest electric vehicle fleets in Europe, confirming that over the next three years it plans to deploy around 1,000 electric vehicles, equivalent to over 10 per cent of its fleet. Speaking to BusinessGreen , Harald Hagenauer, head of investor relations and corporate governance at the company, said that it already uses 18 electric cars, 75 electric mopeds, and 100 electric bikes for its deliveries. However, the company now plans to purchase up to 300 electric cars and over 700 e-bikes as part of its wide-ranging initiative to reduce overall emissions by five per cent a year.
