Exclusive: Former president asks green business to help restore democracy in #Maldives - via @businessgreen #mvcoup

The former president of the Maldives , who last month resigned in what he has described as a de facto coup, has urged businesses and green groups to campaign for his country to hold a swift presidential election, warning an ongoing lack of democracy could derail global efforts to tackle climate change. In an exclusive interview with BusinessGreen , ex-president Mohamed Nasheed, made a direct appeal for environmentalists and green businesses to voice their concerns about the political unrest in the archipelago, following his resignation in early February amid protests against his rule.
