Over 50 businesses, trade associations, and NGOs have today written to George Osborne calling on him to deliver a green budget that accelerates the transition to a low carbon economy, and accusing the Chancellor of having "damaged the green economy" with his comments suggesting environmental policies represent a "burden". The carefully-worded letter criticises the Chancellor's claims last year that green policies impose "endless social and environmental goals" on businesses, arguing that in fact effective green policies "not only help to safeguard the environment but, critically, lead the way to a more competitive and resilient economy".
