Thousands of Shark Fins Found on Hong Kong Sidewalk (Video)

Screen Grab from Vimeo/Video screen capture Gary Stokes has this horrifying video of finding shark fins scattered across a Hong Kong sidewalk which, I have to admit, makes me a bit sick to watch. And I sat through Mariah Carey's Glitter so I have a pretty iron-clad stomach! As Jaymi Heimbuch pointed out last year, "The demand for shark fins, meat, liver oil, and other products has driven some populations of these animals to the brink of extinction. Up to 73 million sharks are killed annually to support the global trade in their fins." Clearly something has to be done! If you don't know much about Shark Finning, read this great post on Planet Green: Shark Finning 101. And if you happen to be one of those people that actually loves shark fin soup, well first, screw you! But secondly, how about this nice alternative recipe .
