Interloper: Poa annua was found near research stations in the Antarctic region. Scientists working in Antarctica have inadvertently introduced alien plants and tiny animals there that are likely to spread as the climate warms, researchers report. Scouring the clothes and boots of scientists and tourists visiting the continent, they found that most were carrying nonnative plant seeds. [BBC] The Environmental Protection Agency says it will delay controversial water pollution standards for Florida lakes, rivers and streams to give the state more time to draft its own rules. The federal rules, intended to control nitrogen and phosphorus, were to take effect Tuesday but will be postponed until July 6.
