Risk of flooding today in Cornwall, Devon, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Swansea 24-Oct-2011 The Environment Agency is today warning of flooding in parts of South West England and West Wales as a result of heavy and persistent rain. The Met Office has forecast around 100mm (four inches) of rainfall for the next nine hours with the possibility of even larger amounts in localised places. The Environment Agency currently has 16 river and coastal flood alerts in place across England and Wales, though expects to issue flood warnings in the next few hours. Strong winds and high tides in South Devon are also increasing the risk of localised flooding in coastal areas. Last November hundreds of properties in Cornwall were flooded after heavy rainfall.
