EPA, FDEP Coordinate on Cleanup Near Fairfax Street Wood Treaters Site in Jacksonville, Fla. 07/09/2018 Contact Information: Dawn Harris-Young ([email protected] ) (404) 562-8421 (Direct), (404) 562-8400 (Main) ATLANTA (July 9, 2018) – In order to expedite the cleanup at Susie Tolbert Elementary School during the summer vacation, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has agreed to remove soil with arsenic concentrations during the week of July 16, 2018. The soil excavation and restoration are expected to be completed the first week in August. The levels detected are well below the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Removal Management Level and do not pose an imminent threat to public health or the environment. EPA will continue to work collaboratively with the State, City of Jacksonville, and the Duval County School System. The Fairfax ...
