2 Girls Building in Melbourne blurs the line between art and architecture

The project explores the relationship between art, architecture and photography, blurring the line between two- and three-dimensional mediums. The effort resulted in a hybrid urban artifact that is part photo and part architecture. KUD collaborated with Melbourne artist Samantha Everton on the design of the structure, selecting a famous photo of two girls to be featured on the facade. The choice was based on the familiarity of the visuals and its connection to the inner city traditional domestic spaces. It also adds a dose of theatricality that infuses the public realm with a bit of drama.
