The new bioenergy plant for Leeds looks outstanding #LeedsHour #BradfordHour
As well, we have fought against incineration of all kinds in the US for years. So-called “waste-to-energy” facilities are really just burning trash. This is a bad thing for many reasons, but mostly because it creates disincentives for greater levels of recycling. More money needs to be invested in educating people to achieve greater participation in recycling, as well as separating recycling streams. Many towns and cities in the US have devolved into single-stream or two-stream recycling systems, which spells the doom for many of the materials, as well as sidestepping the need to educate and enforce. Yet, we seem willing to pour all sorts of money into incineration and dumping. Waste Management, the largest US waste company, has admitted that their idea to create single-stream recycling was a mistake and set recycling back twenty years.
