Study Reveals Global Warming May Be Affecting Food Prices

David Lobell , a Standford University scientist, and his colleagues conducted a study gathering agricultural data (including temperature, rainfall, and crop production) from growing regions around the world between the years 1980-2008, and compared it to what the crop yield would have been had all the variables stayed consistent. The results are as follows: Corn production was lowered 5.5% Wheat yields were lowered 3.8% Wheat yields in Russia alone were lowered 15% Some disagree with the results, however, claiming that we don’t know what the farm yields really would have been had the factors stayed the same, and the outcome could have been affected by any number of other things other than the temperature/environment.
