Luxury jeweler John Hardy has a boatload of green initiatives planned for Earth Day; one of them involves a supermodel
are glamming up Earth Day with the debut of a new bamboo-inspired collection. Part of the company’s “Wear Bamboo, Plant Bamboo” program, the Hijau Dua range —”hijau” is Balinese for “green”—features earrings, rings, necklaces, and cuffs in recycled sterling silver and 18-karat gold. For every piece purchased, John Hardy will plant enough bamboo seedlings to offset the carbon emission used to transport and advertise the product. To further underscore its commitment to be “greener every day,” John Hardy has pledged to donate and plant 600,000 bamboo seedlings for the Bali government.
