President Obama launches $150 million textiles-innovation competition

rolled out a plan to reinvigorate textile manufacturing in America. Part of the new plan is a challenge issued by the Department of Defense worth $150 million, which will be sourced 50/50 from public- and private-sector resources. The goal? To encourage textile designers and manufacturers to develop new methods that will keep the States on the cutting edge of the industry. With this proposal, Obama hopes to spur American companies toward new innovations in technical fabrics , many of which may eventually be used by the various military branches.
