What does the fashion industry have in common with sumo wrestling? Plenty, it seems

With its clean, fluid lines and quiet, untrammeled ease, Jaida Hay's eponymous label appears to share little with the brute forces that govern the Japanese art of sumo wrestling. Yet the London-based British-Canadian designer admits that the ritualistic sport—and the corruption scandals that continue to dog it—lies at the heart of her debut collection, which she describes as "sports luxe" for its unexpected mix of deconstructed tailoring and loose draping.
