Why was this woman sewing dollar bills outside H&M Times Square on a freezing day in NYC?

Eng’s work is a tribute to the Cambodian protestors who were fired upon by government officials when demanding better working conditions and wages earlier this month. She performed in front of the Times Square H&M in New York as part of her project called “Less Than Three,” which brings awareness about the working conditions of garment workers in Cambodia, as well as the protest that workers have been staging in the capital of Phnom Penh. H&M was chosen as the venue for the installation, since its parent company is one of the world’s largest buyers in the Cambodian garment industry.
