ABB to improve renewables on Aruban grid

The Aruban government is targeting to become fossil free by 2020, with over half their energy from renewable sources. The Dutch Caribbean Island has a peak demand of 134MW, ABB said. ABB will supply a microgrid with software and control technology to help integrate solar and wind power on to the grid. "ABB's microgrid solution allows for integration of a complex energy generation portfolio and maximises the use of renewable energy, while optimising operations in real-time," the Swiss firm said. "We're eager to continue developing future projects together with ABB as they have enabled us in achieving our goals by introducing new renewables, new technologies and by adding value to our island's economy", said WEB Aruba's division manager of technical affairs, Francis Ras.
