Is Offering a Residential PPA Worth it for New Solar Contractors?

The solar power purchase agreement (PPA) has been a huge injection of steroids for the solar industry, untaping a huge market that was otherwise inaccessible given the current state of policy, financial markets and risk in the US solar industry. Aside from policy, financing is the most common bottleneck to the completion of more solar projects. The benefits to the homeowners who could not previously afford solar is clear. But the question remains, if you’re getting into the solar business as a solar contractor, should you try to offer a PPA to your customers? For the sake of this article, lets focus on the residential market. If you’re a contractor, there are a few questions you should be thinking about when looking into offering a PPA.
