Solar Media launches ‘Building a British Solar Future’ campaign to counter UK solar cuts

The ‘Building a British Solar Future’ campaign, will be fronted by the UK’s largest online news platform for solar, Solar Power Portal, which is PV Tech’s sister site. Image: Lightsource Solar Media, the publisher of PV Tech, is launching a campaign to give the UK solar industry a platform to have its voice heard in the wake of Government proposals for dramatic cuts in subsidy support for the technology. The UK’s Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) recently proposed scrapping subsidies under the Renewable Obligation (RO) for ground-mount projects (under 5MW) a year early in April 2016. Furthermore, it plans to remove grandfathering for new solar PV projects on 5MW and below, which creates uncertainty about whether they will receive the same level of subsidy support throughout their lifetime.
