[email protected]_ISO says Texas #wind energy provided nearly 11% of electricity for 2014

to 10.6% of electricity in 2014, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). In 2013, wind power comprised 9.9% of total electricty. According to ERCOT, electric use in the ERCOT footprint increased by 2.5% in 2014 compared to 2013, while peak demand during the hottest part of summer decreased by a little more than 1%. Energy use over the course of the year in the ERCOT region increased to 340.0 TWh from 331.6 TWh in 2013, due mainly to increases during the extremely cold winter months early in the year. At 66.4 GW, peak demand was down by about 1.2% from 2013 and lower than the all-time record of 68.3 GW set on Aug. 3, 2011, during the hottest summer on record. The system operator notes that 1 MW is enough electricity to power about 200 homes during the highest demand period.
