Crowdsourcing Energy: A Case for Feed-in Tariffs

Germany constructed re over the last several years when much of it was much more expensive than it is now. Solar pv is still perhaps relatively high priced when comparing retail pricing to wholesale costs of electricity but not retail vs retail pricing. This is one of many distinctions that is lost at the policy making level when I hear them mouth what electric utility managers are saying. Community Choice; it's a choice between letting utilities continue to make decisions for you or you, the ratepayer, having a bigger say in where your electricity comes from. It's pretty straightforward but the message gets convoluted by the utility sector and others who evidently like the territorial laws and the natural monopolies utilities enjoy.
