Kleiner involved in Solexel’s $14.8m equity raise 24 Jun 2013 Solexel , a privately-held solar cell and module maker in the US, has raised $14.78m of equity in a financing round opened earlier this month with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers named on the SEC filin g. The business raised $25m last month to build a pilot plant in California in the first close of its Series C round with new investor Gentry Venture Partners leading the financing. The latest filing shows Solexel is just shy of bringing on a further $15m with Kleiner’s Jon Denniston named as involved with the capital injection alongside Greg Williams from DAG Ventures and Les Vadasz, former executive vice president of Intel Corp. SunPower is also a previous backer in the company. Solexel’s pilot plant is aimed at testing Solexel’s manufacturing process with larger equipment, which if proved successful would then...
