Solar Power Cuts Bills in Half for Hawaii Realtor

Solar Power Cuts Bills in Half for Hawaii Realtor Monday, August 29th 2011 4:39 PM By GetSolar Staff. Tony Kawaguchi is a realtor who lives in Honolulu, Hawaii. Living in a place like scenic Oahu, it would seem easy enough for Tony to support solar power on the basis of the environmental benefits alone. He even notes that one of the greatest concerns regarding carbon emissions is the increasing acidity of the ocean, an important issue for areas like Hawaii with substantial coral formations. Up until 2008, however, none of these arguments had convinced Tony to make the switch. At that point, a smaller number of companies had adopted the solar leasing financing model, which allows homeowners to have solar panels installed at little or no cost in exchange for an agreement to buy the electricity, and up-front costs for solar installations remain high. That hesitation disappear...
