Saudi Arabia is turning to with US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for training and expertise in measuring kingdom's solar resource. The Kingdom is planning to move aggressively into renewable energy, with plans to spend billions of dollars over the next two decades to install more than 50 GW in solar projects by 2032. Not only will this level of development insure the nation will get 30 percent of its electricity from solar resources in two decades time, but the intensity of development represents more gigawatts of renewable energy than was installed in the entire world in 2012. power in the country and meet at least 30 percent of its electricity needs with solar energy.
