Australia falling behind: Korean S-Energy to build 120MW solar plants in US in 2012

S-Energy has signed an agreement with Cenergy Power, project developer, for jointly developing a 9 MW scale photovoltaic complex in California. Under this agreement, both parties will begin construction this September and it will be complete by next March. S-Energy says the company will be the first Korean photovoltaic module and system producer who can develop and operate solar power plant in the US by themselves. S-Energy has already set up the US subsidiary last march in California in order to enter the North American market. Starting this project, S-Energy is targeting to build total 120MW of solar power plants in the US market next year. Based on establishing a horizontally integrated procurement structure, S-Energy has secured upstream materials and significantly lowers manufacturing cost, said Lee Yong Ho, vice president.
