Suzlon claimed it was the leading wind OEM in its home Indian market in the 2017/18 financial year, with 626MW commissioned out of a total 1.77GW added in the country. The Pune-based company said the figure represents “the highest installations by any player during this fiscal” and a 35% share based on latest data from the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), without giving comparative additions for others in the market. Indian industry figures tally wind additions by financial years rather than the calendar-year data more common globally. Suzlon and other OEMs active in India have faced a sharp dip in activity over the last 12 months, amid a transition from feed-in tariffs to competitive bidding that caused an abrupt hiatus in procurement.
