Smart grid students test electric car infrastructure

Two students from Durham University are to set off on a 600 mile round trip to Cardiff tomorrow as they demonstrate the possibilities of smart grid technology and low carbon power. Driving the University’s own Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car, the Sergio Roldan and Giannis Sarrigiannis, who are both studying renewable energy at the Durham Energy Institute (DEI), will make the journey to Cardiff in time to attend the Low Carbon Networks Fund’s (LCNF) Annual Conference at the Wales Millennium Centre in the city (October 25 and 26). Durham University’s DEI is one of the partners of the Customer-Led Network Revolution, the UK’s biggest ever Smart Grid project which aims to develop a low carbon energy network.
