Here is me 2 cents. So I moved from Texas to California last year and just bought a new Prius last month. After being here for over a year I realized that the lifestyle is perfect for the Prius. Stuck in traffic way too much and high gas prices were my motivation. My sport car with manual transmission became a pain to drive daily. I would have never, ever even considered a Prius back in Texas, but here it makes too much cents! For background, I am an accountant and actually made a spreadsheet to see whether I could justify a new car that increase my payment $130. I am happy to share it with anyone so you can do the math and see for yourself based on what you drive. At $5 gas and 19K miles a year on average for me, it really saves me money with its average of high 40's mpgs. So i rather spend more on the car and less on gas.
